Rupee under pressure as US dollar strengthens across Sri Lankan banks

The Sri Lankan Rupee weakened against the US Dollar across commercial banks in Sri Lanka on Monday (09). Banks increased both buying and selling rates compared to the previous trading day. The selling rate moved up to around Rs. 341, showing continued pressure on the local currency in the foreign exchange market. Traders pointed to stronger demand for US dollars and weaker foreign inflows as key drivers behind the depreciation. Import payments and higher dollar demand from businesses also influenced market movements during the day. Banks adjusted rates in response to interbank market trends.
