Suresh Sallay Ready to Sacrifice His Life to Protect Intelligence Secrets – Sarath Weerasekara.

A firm stand on national security as concerns grow over Suresh Sallay’s health and detention.

Former Minister Sarath Weerasekara stated that former State Intelligence Service Director Major General Suresh Sallay is currently suffering from a serious health condition while remaining in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under a detention order.

Speaking to the media, Weerasekara said he has not received an opportunity to meet Sallay personally. However, Sallay’s wife and son have visited him and informed others about his condition. He noted that the former intelligence chief continues to face a difficult situation while in custody.

Former Intelligence Chief Refuses to Reveal Sensitive Information.

Weerasekara claimed that Sallay has taken a firm stand against providing intelligence information to individuals or groups he considers unauthorized. According to him, Sallay remains determined to protect intelligence secrets and national security interests regardless of the personal consequences.

He further stated that Sallay believes intelligence information should remain protected and should not reach unnecessary parties. Weerasekara described this position as one based on principle and commitment to the country.

Weerasekara Urges Sallay to End Hunger Strike.

The former minister also revealed that Sallay has reportedly engaged in a hunger strike over the issue. He said Sallay remains willing to sacrifice his own life rather than compromise intelligence information that he believes could affect national security.

Despite praising Sallay’s dedication, Weerasekara appealed to him to resume eating and protect his health. He said he had conveyed the same request to Sallay’s wife as well. Weerasekara added that Sallay should stay alive so that legal action can take place in the future against those whom he believes have acted unfairly toward the former intelligence chief.
