A tragic accident occurred on the Hatton–Dickoya main road, resulting in the death of one person. The incident took place this afternoon (29) when a private passenger bus lost control and plunged into a precipice. According to reports, one person died in the accident.
22 Injured Admitted to Dickoya Hospital
A total of 22 individuals sustained injuries and were admitted to the Dickoya Glangon Hospital for treatment. Among the injured are school students, as well as the bus driver and conductor.
Bus Falls Into 25-Foot Precipice After Losing Control
Police stated that the bus was traveling from Dayagama towards Hatton via Bogawantalawa. Around 3:00 PM, in the Pattalkal area of Dickoya, the driver attempted to give way to an oncoming vehicle but lost control. The bus subsequently veered off the road and fell approximately 25 feet down a slope.
At the time of the accident, around 35 passengers were on board the bus. Authorities have launched further investigations into the incident.
