Four Suspects Arrested in Anuradhapura Drug Bust.

Special police operation in Vijayapura leads to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of illegal narcotics.

Officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau arrested four suspected drug traffickers during a special operation carried out in the Vijayapura area of Anuradhapura on Wednesday (17).

The raid followed intelligence received by the Police Intelligence Division regarding the activities of a suspected drug distribution network operating in the area. Acting on the information, officers conducted a targeted search and apprehended four individuals believed to have connections to the network.

Authorities Seize Ice and Heroin During Operation.

During the operation, officers recovered quantities of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice,” and heroin. The Anuradhapura Regional Special Narcotics Unit led the search and collected the seized drugs as evidence.

Police intensified surveillance in the area before carrying out the raid, aiming to curb the spread of narcotics in Anuradhapura and surrounding regions. The successful operation dealt a significant blow to suspected drug trafficking activities in the district.

Investigators Uncover Links to Regional Drug Distribution.

Preliminary investigations identified the suspects as residents of Vijayapura and Nagasena Mawatha in Anuradhapura. The four suspects are aged 35, 43, 46, and 48.Investigators believe the suspects supplied illegal drugs to Anuradhapura and several nearby towns. Authorities continue to gather evidence and trace additional individuals who may have connections to the distribution network.

Police officers from the Anuradhapura Regional Special Narcotics Unit are conducting further investigations. Upon completion of the initial inquiries, authorities will present the suspects before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court for legal proceedings.
