Attorney General Files Direct Indictment Against Former Soldier.

Direct legal action begins in the shocking Anuradhapura female doctor case.

The Attorney General has directly filed indictments against a former army soldier accused of sexually assaulting a female doctor at knifepoint at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital last year.

Using special legal powers, the Attorney General decided to take the case directly before the Anuradhapura High Court without conducting the usual preliminary magisterial proceedings. Court sources stated that the indictments include two charges, namely sexual harassment and cruel assault.

Female Doctor Threatened and Subjected to Sexual Abuse.

Investigations revealed that the suspect entered the official hospital residence of the female doctor in March last year and threatened her at knifepoint before subjecting her to sexual abuse. The incident shocked the entire country and raised serious concerns about the safety and security of medical professionals.

High Court Hearing Expected Soon.

Following the incident, police officers launched an investigation, arrested the suspect, and produced him before the court. After considering the facts presented during the hearings, the court granted bail to the accused under legal conditions. The suspect currently remains out on bail, while legal proceedings continue. Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed that the case will soon be taken up before the Anuradhapura High Court for further hearings and examination of evidence related to the incident.
