Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madhura Seneviratne has announced that the results of the 2025 General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level Examination will be released next week.
He stated that officials are currently completing the final stage of updating candidates’ information before publishing the results. The 2025 GCE O/L Examination took place from February 17 to 26, 2026, with 451,463 candidates sitting for the examination across the country.
Education Ministry Orders Schools to Complete 2026 Syllabi.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has issued a notice regarding the completion of syllabi for the 2026 GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations.
Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa instructed principals of all government and government-approved private schools, along with senior education officials, to take immediate action if any school falls behind in completing the prescribed syllabi. He advised schools to plan ahead and allocate additional time where necessary to ensure students receive full coverage of the curriculum.
2026 O/L and A/L Exams to Proceed as Scheduled.

The Ministry also confirmed that it will conduct the 2026 GCE O/L and A/L examinations on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa emphasized that schools must complete the relevant syllabi on time and adequately prepare students for the upcoming examinations.
