An elderly woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a house in the Akkarapahan area under the Katana Police Division in Negombo. Katana Police have launched investigations into the incident.
According to preliminary police findings, the deceased is a 76-year-old woman from the Akkarapahan area. Police stated that she had been living alone at her residence. Neighbours reportedly became concerned after not seeing her for a long time and informed the police. Following this, officers visited the house and discovered the woman’s body inside in a deceased condition.
Death under suspicious circumstances
Statements have been recorded from neighbours as well. Police are investigating the incident from multiple angles to determine whether the death occurred due to natural causes, an accident, or external factors.A post-mortem examination of the deceased woman is scheduled to be conducted today (25) at the Negombo Hospital. Authorities expect that the forensic report will clarify the exact cause of death.
Further investigations into the incident are continuing. Police are also conducting a detailed inquiry into the background of the case and the woman’s final movements.
