Iranian officials on Sunday strongly denied reports claiming that President Masoud Pezeshkian had resigned from office, describing the circulating information as false and politically motivated.
Mehdi Tabatabaei, Deputy Head of Communications at the Presidential Office, dismissed the reports in a post published on X. He accused certain foreign media outlets of spreading misleading narratives and attempting to create instability inside Iran.
Iranian Officials Deny Political Crisis.
Tabatabaei stated that President Pezeshkian would continue serving the Iranian people without stepping back from his responsibilities. He also stressed that Iran would remain committed to national unity and stability despite growing international speculation.
According to him, groups attempting to weaken Iran’s internal unity would once again fail in their efforts. He rejected claims suggesting divisions within the country’s leadership and insisted that the government continues to function normally.
Foreign Media Reports Raise Questions.
The report stated that the president expressed frustration over being excluded from major national decision-making processes. It also claimed that Pezeshkian warned about the growing influence of hardline factions within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to the same source, the Iranian president reportedly said that the current political situation prevented him from properly governing the country or fulfilling his constitutional duties. Because of this, he allegedly requested an immediate resignation.
However, Iranian authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the alleged letter, and uncertainty continues over the credibility of the claims.
