Sri Lanka Raises Fuel Prices from Midnight.

Latest fuel price hike creates fresh pressure on Sri Lankan consumers and transport sectors.

The Sri Lankan government announced a new fuel price revision that came into effect from midnight on May 30, 2026. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) confirmed the latest increase and released the updated retail prices for several fuel categories across the country.

According to the announcement, authorities raised the price of Auto Diesel by Rs.15, bringing the new price to Rs.407 per litre. The government also increased the price of Lanka Super Diesel by Rs.20, setting the new rate at Rs.478 per

Petrol Prices Record Sharp Increase.

The latest revision also affected petrol prices significantly. Officials increased Octane 92 Petrol by Rs.24, raising the new retail price to Rs.434 per litre. In addition, Octane 95 Petrol recorded a Rs.25 increase, pushing the price up to Rs.495 per litre.

Many vehicle owners and transport operators expressed concern over the continuous rise in fuel prices. Several consumers fear that the increase could lead to higher transportation costs and further pressure on household expenses.

Kerosene Price Also Increases.

Authorities also revised the kerosene price. CPC increased the price by Rs.20 and fixed the new retail price at Rs.285 per litre.

Economic analysts expect the latest fuel price hike to affect household expenses and business operations throughout the country. The increase may also create further challenges for people already struggling with the rising cost of living.
