A former female Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Motor Traffic has been arrested over corruption-related allegations.
Officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested the suspect yesterday (28.04.2026) in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Illegal Number Plates Issued to Unregistered Vehicle
According to reports, she allegedly issued vehicle number plates illegally to a vehicle that had not been properly registered. Authorities state that this unlawful act forms the basis of the charges against her.
To Be Produced Before Colombo Court
The suspect is currently serving as the Commissioner of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services in Battaramulla. She is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate’s Court.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Bribery Commission.
