According to the statement, false information related to business opportunities, employment, the country’s economy, and tax policies has been spreading across social media platforms. Officials stated that individuals created these fake contents using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and modern digital tools.
Authorities also said that certain groups continue to spread such fake news with the intention of damaging the reputation of the government and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
Government’s Appeal to the Public.

The Prime Minister’s Office urged the public to treat such misleading information with caution and avoid sharing any content without verification. Officials stated that fake news circulating on social media could mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.
The Prime Minister’s Office further requested the public to rely only on official announcements and trusted media sources for accurate information. Authorities also advised people not to share unverified posts, videos, or messages circulating online.
