Large-scale smuggling bust in Narammala sparks police investigation

Police arrested a 41-year-old man from Horombawa in Narammala after intercepting a container truck carrying a large quantity of imported goods allegedly brought into the country without paying customs duties. Officers from the Kuliyapitiya Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau carried out the operation following a tip-off.

Large Stock of Imported Goods Recovered.

During the inspection, police recovered 190 bottles of foreign-manufactured liquor, motorcycle parts, 42 motorcycle chassis, 44 motorcycle engines, bicycles, and bicycle parts. Officers also found several other imported items inside the container.

STF Assists Ongoing Investigation.

Police called in officers from the Special Task Force camps in Kurunegala and Puttalam to assist with the inspection. Authorities also discovered six forklifts, three excavators, agricultural equipment, and various household items. Kuliyapitiya Police continue further investigations into the incident.
